Craig’s VIP Cuts began as an idea in December 2007. After 19 years in the barbering industry, my desire to open another shop returned to me after talking to one of my former barber apprentices. I took him in as a 18 year- old “thug”, straight from boot camp and the streets back in 1995. He went to boot camp because, like many Black males, he was tempted by the lure of fast money in the streets. The judge was going to give him fed time or boot camp. He made the right choice. He came in the shop looking for a a haircut but I gave him an opportunity. He had cut a few heads out of his apartment but no real skills. He did have the desire. To make a long story short, he turned his life around and became the best barbers in Northern Va. After moving to Atlanta years later, I got a call from my apprentice. He said he opened his own shop and he wanted to thank me for helping him changed his life. Little did he know, he helped changed mine. I decided to open another shop because of my 3 former apprentices; all shop owners or managers, who told me that this is what I needed to do; help those future barbers succeed. I have had many opportunites to open another shop in the past 5 years. My 1st shop in Va was a success; great location, great money, but I needed a bigger city. I opened another shop when I moved to Atlanta and we thrived for 3 out of 5 years we were open. However, being new to Georgia, I did not realize that I was not in a good location until my 3rd year in business. Fortunately, after advice from several of my clients, they pointed me to a great city and location.

Every barber should know what a “enhancement” is. A technique used to “enhance” the haircut; or better yet, the hairline. But for those clients that want an enhanced look without the actual dye…. Here are 15 natural enhanced techniques. They will give you the crispy look without product.
1.Hairline Prep: Comb or brush hair; specifically the hairline .
2. Shampoo hair and beard.
3. Hot Towel rinse; put alcohol in hot towel before applying.
4. Apply Motions Spritz over the ENTIRE scalp.
5. Blow Dry scalp
6. Apply alcohol
7. Take 2 brushes and brush scalp vigorously
8. Spray Sea Breeze on scalp
9.Apply alcohol on hairline
10. Brush scalp vigorously with both brushes
11. Apply spritz
12. Brush vigorously
13. Blow Dry hairline

Taper
A taper is faded in the temple area and at the nape of the neck. The cut can be worn with short hair, long hair or medium length hair; as long as the fade is at the temple area and the nape of the neck.
Fade
A fade haircut is a style where the hair gradually transitions from short to shorter (or skin) as it moves down the sides and back of the head. The “fade” refers to the seamless blending of different hair lengths, creating a smooth gradient effect.
Main Types of Fades:
Low Fade: Starts just above the ears and curves around the hairline. Mid Fade: Begins around the temples and offers a balanced look. High Fade: Starts near the crown and creates a more dramatic contrast. Skin Bald Fade: Tapers all the way down to the skin.
Fades can be combined with many styles like waves, curls, afros, pompadours, or comb-overs.
